European Paintings
European paintings were a core component of Charlotte and Louis Hyde’s original collection. They collected works from the Renaissance through the early twentieth century, by artists such as Botticelli, Tintoretto, El Greco, Rubens, Rembrandt, Ingres, Courbet, and Picasso.
Modern & Contemporary Art
This collection has grown significantly in recent decades due to substantial gifts, and features artists such as Grace Hartigan, Ellsworth Kelly, Bridget Riley, and Sam Gilliam. The Feibes & Schmitt Gallery is dedicated to exhibitions of modern and contemporary art.
Decorative Arts
The decorative arts collection consists of around 150 pieces of furniture, 300 glass and metal objects, almost 400 ceramics, and over 800 textiles. Many of these objects were purchased by the Hydes to furnish and decorate Hyde House, and are still displayed in the home today.
