In 2017, The Hyde celebrated a major milestone, the opening of a gallery intended to promote Modern and Contemporary art of the postwar period. The inaugural exhibition of the Feibes & Schmitt Gallery comprised pieces from the donors’ stunning collection amassed during their decades together in Schenectady. That collection, long pledged to the Museum, is now resident at The Hyde. Werner Feibes, on moving to be with family in the south, fulfilled the pledge this winter. The Hyde now opens a new installation of masterworks from the Feibes & Schmitt gift. Among the artists represented are Josef Albers, Jean (Hans) Arp, Ellsworth Kelly, Sol LeWitt, Louise Nevelson, Bridget Riley, and Andy Warhol.
