“Place” takes the original music of Heard and brings the audience somewhere special and distinct in each piece– like the crowded bustle of an Accra open-air market (Market Song), a winding wintry boulevard in Montreal (Cotes des Neiges) or the summer streets of Brazil (Danca Verao). Through narrative storytelling around our compositional inspirations, we explore cultural, geographical, and environmental dimensions of other countries and places.  

Heard is a collective of musicians that bring their skills and passion for world music, jazz and improvising together to create irresistible grooves set in a unique sonic tapestry. Together for over 16 years, their vibrant sound incorporates influences from West Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean and beyond. Their debut CD Karibu reached #15 on the WorldJazz charts and 2018’s daring Flyway is similarly garnering much critical acclaim.  Keeping an ongoing and very diverse performing and education program schedule including a 2024 tour to Ghana, West Africa to perform in concert as special guests of The Pan African Orchestra at the National Theater of Ghana as well as at Ghana’s premier Jazz Club; +233 Jazz Bar & Grill.  Heard is a 6-time Eddy Music Awards nominee in the World Music category AND 2026’s Eddy Awards WORLD MUSIC GROUP OF THE YEAR!
