Panel Discussion | Bigger Than Us: Photography and Environmental Change

November 4 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

This public conversation is focused on the exhibition on view in our Feibes and Schmitt gallery, Ron Jude: 12Hz. The exhibition is comprised of twenty monumental black and white photographs of the earth’s raw materials by Ron Jude and an audio installation by Joshua Bonnetta featuring seismographic recordings. Discussion participants are photographer Ron Jude, geologist Chuck Ver Straeten, and curator and author of books on eco-art, Linda Weintraub. Topics will include conventional versus alternative approaches to landscape photography, the nuances of representing geological and seismic phenomena, the climate crisis, and more as we explore Jude’s photographic evocations of environmental change beyond the levels of human perception.

The discussion will be moderated by Derin Tanyol, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Hyde Collection.

Admission is free but space is limited; please register to guarantee a seat.
