** The January 25 Open Studio has been rescheduled due to weather conditions. This Open Studio class will be offered on February 29. **

Elizabeth Zunon is an artist and illustrator from Albany, New York. Her creative work is inspired by her childhood spent on the Ivory Coast in West Africa. She received her B.F.A. in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and has since illustrated over twelve books. In May 2019 she released her first published authored book, Grandpa Cacao: A Tale of Chocolate, from Farm to Family (Bloomsbury Books).

Join artist Elizabeth Zunon in the art studio to create a watercolor inspired by Dox Thrash, Black Life, and the Carborundum Mezzotint. Participants will use salt, sand, and sponges to create textures similar to the appearance of Thrash’s carborundum mezzotint. Bring your own photo for inspiration or create from the artworks of Dox Thrash.

$15 for members / $20 for non-members.

Register here or by contacting Sue at 518-792-1761, ext. 350, or [email protected].

This Open Studio program is made possible in part by Humanities New York with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
