Lecture inspired the by current exhibition Songs of the Horizon: David Smith, Music, and Dance

In this talk, David Smith scholar Paula Wisotzki will explore the artist’s interest in dance and music through paintings, drawings, and sculptures from the late 1930s and the 1940s. She will highlight interactions with dancers and musicians who inspired his explorations of these subjects.

Paula Wisotzki is Professor of Art History in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Loyola University Chicago. Her research explores the intersection of art, dance and music in Smith’s work and others in his circle.
