Community Soundscape

May 31 @ 10:00 am - September 15 @ 5:00 pm

Create with us and be a part of a contemporary art exhibition at The Hyde Collection!

You’re invited to be a sound artist and make an audio clip to be incorporated into the Richard Estes: Urban Landscapes exhibition at The Hyde!

For this community soundscape, we hope to capture audio from all surrounding locations—urban or rural, industrial or natural, from Glens Falls to far beyond.  All you need to do is step outside and record what you hear around you! The collected audio will be edited together to create a unique soundscape that will be incorporated into our exhibition and shared digitally.

Audio files can be recorded directly on a smartphone device using a variety of applications such as Voice Recorder. The audio file you submit should be edited to a minimum of 10 seconds and a maximum of 30 seconds. We will be accepting Mp3, Mp4, M4A, or WAV audio recordings until August 15.

Richard Estes: Urban Landscapes is organized by the Portland Museum of Art, Maine.
The exhibition was curated by Jaime DeSimone, former Robert and Elizabeth Nanovic Curator of Contemporary Art, Portland Museum of Art, Maine.

Generous support provided by Art Bridges
