In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Hudson River School, Becoming the Landscape is more than a workshop series—it’s a creative and contemplative journey through place, presence, and personal expression. The next sessions are scheduled for Feb 19 & Mar 19.

Session 2: Sacred Spaces, Sacred Selves

This session explores how natural spaces shape our inner lives. Drawing inspiration from grand vistas and quiet corners alike, we create our own symbolic sanctuary through mixed media.

Guided by the spirit of artists like Thomas Cole, Frederic Church, and Albert Bierstadt—whose luminous work lives within The Hyde’s own collection—this series invites participants to reimagine the landscape not only as something to admire, but as something to embody.

Participants will engage in hands-on artmaking using a variety of materials—paint, collage, sketching, and layering techniques—not just writing.

No prior art background is needed—just a willingness to be present, to create, and to connect with the landscape in new and meaningful ways.
