Tips to Create Art at Home

Family Reading List

Artful Afternoons

Discover art together from 2:30 to 4:30 pm Wednesday afternoons with this afternoon drop-in art program for guardians and children ages 6 and older. Begin by examining a work from the Museum’s permanent collection or exhibitions, then visit the Art Studio to put your discoveries into action. A different topic is explored each week. Free, but donations are appreciated. Parents and guardians are encouraged to join in the fun too!

Tours for Tots

A morning program for guardians and children ages 3 to 5 is held from 10:30 to 11:30 am Thursday. Explore the Museum’s permanent collection or exhibitions with age-appropriate gallery and art-making activities introducing young children to big ideas in art. Different topics are explored each week by use of art materials, books, and play. Free, but donations are appreciated.

Art Lab

Art Lab

A hands-on art activity and gallery exploration program from 1 to 3 pm that fosters creativity, collaboration, and innovation among all ages. Families and individuals can drop in and participate in an educator-led exercise challenging the expectation of what art is and how it enhances our lives.

Art Crawl

Art Crawl

On the first Friday of each month, babies and their caregivers are invited to play and learn in the Museum at 10:30 am. Each program includes an activity designed especially for little ones with an art material exploration and play.

Discovery Kits

No matter when you visit The Hyde, the education department has fun learning activities for kids and their families. Discovery Kits guide visitors as they look at the art, offer creative activities, and help kids (and their guardians) discover something new. Ask the front desk for a kit.

Creative Corner

Kids of all ages will love the children’s space on the lower floor of the Education Wing. Draw, read, play and learn!
