  • Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Though always having a proclivity for visual art, that interest grew through high school, and especially through undergraduate school, where I studied Art History and took many studio classes. As I explored different mediums, my aptitude for drawing and painting developed, and so did my passion for artmaking.  In my second year of college, I was fortunate to go on an Art History trip to Italy, during which, my admiration for Renaissance Art grew tremendously. I remember being stunned as I was herded through the crowded museum amongst other spectators and getting my first look at Michelangelo’s ‘David’. I was in awe! While at the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, my appreciation for viewing art in person continued to grow tremendously as I understood that the images from my Art History textbooks, though useful, were not able to convey the depth of beauty, nor the emotional experience, that may occur when seeing works of art in person.  Being a Glens Falls area resident for many years by that time in my life, I immediately recognized the treasure we have as a community in being home to The Hyde Collection!

I went on to receive my BFA from Plattsburgh State and my MA from University at Albany, both with concentrations in painting.

I homeschool my three children, and through that journey, have been afforded opportunities to teach Studio Art, Art History, and English classes to students of all ages at a local co-op. I also enjoy teaching art classes and camps for Queensbury Parks and Recreation. In recent years, most of my painting is done En Plein Air.

  • What kind of things will you be doing at the Hyde?

In November, I was thrilled to receive the opportunity to join the Hyde team! Most of my work here is aimed at helping to develop and implement youth and adult programming. I also have the chance to help with tours and some of the other events and activities that the Hyde offers.

  • What are you most excited for in your role at the Museum?

Right now, I am most excited to plan some of the summer camps and workshops that we will be offering. I look forward to leading more of the upcoming adult classes including Life Drawing, Botanical Illustration, & Charcoal Portrait Drawing. I also really enjoy working with the youth who come in for our Family Sunday Drop-In program. Being able to share my love of Art with the community, while simultaneously being inspired by their creativity and passion for it, is truly a joy.
