Just like in real estate, painting en plein air is all about location.
An article, 10 Places You’ll Want to Paint on ArtistsNetwork.com, made me think about all the times I’ve thought, “If I could, this is what I would paint.” (Our educators tell me all the time that everyone can be artistic; I tease that if they think so, they clearly haven’t seen me try.)
The woods I played in as a child; the lakeside campsite where my family spends summer weekends; the tree-lined streets of Glens Falls as the leaves are showing the bright colors of fall, reds, oranges, and yellows canopied overhead; a certain turn on the Warren County Bike Path, when you can first see Lake George come into view; the rolling hills surrounding you as you drive the back roads toward Argyle; the bridge on the Rush Pond trail with lilies and reeds on either side …
If you could paint anywhere in our region, where would it be?
