GLENS FALLS, NY — The Hyde Collection is proud to announce the third year of its Pay as you Wish program. Throughout the month of December, visitors are invited to tour the Museum, interact with the collection and exhibitions, and then make a voluntary donation based on their experiences.
The program was developed to celebrate the Museum, historic home, and world-class art collection with the community while gaining valuable visitor feedback.
“All of our activities are designed to make the visitor experience extraordinary,” said Hyde Interim Director Anne Saile. “Pay as you Wish provides the opportunity for everyone to experience the Museum.”
The program also provides The Hyde staff with feedback about what works well at the Museum. “We take the surveys very seriously,” said Director of External Affairs Tawn Malison. “Our goal is to provide an engaging art experience, and our visitors are in the very best position to help us do that.”
Since the first year of Pay as you Wish, The Hyde has made changes based on the feedback received from the surveys, including offering a year-round free admission day for seniors and providing more interactive programming.
This year, the Pay as you Wish experience becomes even more festive, as historic Hyde House will be decorated for the holidays. The gorgeous courtyard will be a great spot for holiday selfies and, if visitors spot Gus the Elf on the Shelf, holiday “elfies.” Inspired by this month’s Candlelight Tours, guests who make a donation help “light up The Hyde,” as they fill a holiday candle in the lobby.
There are also special offers all month long. New members receive a $10 discount on all participating level and below memberships (gift ones too!). Anyone who makes a donation will receive 10 percent off the current exhibition catalogue, A Shared Legacy: Folk Art in America.
Additionally, current and renewing members can purchase gift memberships (participating level and below) at half-price all December long. Any member who brings two or more non-member guests with them to visit The Hyde will receive a complimentary paperback copy of A Shared Legacy: Folk Art in America, while supplies last.
“Pay as you Wish gives the community the opportunity to see what we have at The Hyde, a place where every corner contains significant works of art,” Saile said. “There is so much to explore. Come for free, and let us show you what an incredible resource we have right here in Glens Falls.”
