  • GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — In the spirit of collaboration, two downtown arts institutions are joining forces to help one another celebrate their annual fundraisers. The Hyde Collection and Charles R. Wood Theater are proud to announce that they will sponsor one another’s Friday, October 6, annual galas, Celebrating Our Shared Legacy Gala at The Hyde and NY, NY — A Night in the Big Apple at The Wood.

“We’re lucky to be experiencing an arts renaissance in downtown Glens Falls,” said Tawn Malison, Director of External Affairs at The Hyde Collection. “It’s an exciting time for our region: The arts are driving the economy, and helping fuel one another’s successes.”

As part of the Museum and Theater collaboration, The Hyde will contribute to The Wood’s A Night in the Big Apple auction event.

“It’s wonderful to work in a city with such a vibrant arts scene that there isn’t a night without another event scheduled,” said Anne Saile, Interim Director of The Hyde Collection. “We’re honored that we can team with The Wood, whose mission of engaging the community in the arts so closely aligns with our own.”

Both events start at 6 pm and are being held at their respective sites. The Hyde gala honors the Museum’s history and celebrates the opening of the exhibition A Shared Legacy: Folk Art in America. Guests of honor include former Museum Director Erin Coe and Barbara L. Gordon, a prominent folk art collector from whose collection the exhibition is drawn. Celebrating Our Shared Legacy will offer a folk art experience, with cuisine from Lily and the Rose Farm-to-Table Catering; music by John Kribs and the Trophy Husbands; tours of the exhibition with the collector; a live auction; and themed decor.

NY, NY — A Night in the Big Apple offers an evening of New York City-themed entertainment, transforming the theater’s three stories into individual attractions including Times Square in the lobby, with tacos from O’Pablo’s Food Truck and street food selections by [forged]; Bomb Shelter Comedy Club in the basement; and Studio 207 Dance Club in the Cabaret Space with DJ Timko. At McMahon’s Irish Pub, in the second-floor rehearsal room, Grafton Street Trio  will perform and, in Josie’s Cabaret Club on the theater stage, Avery Babson and the Resolutions will play.”

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to partner with The Hyde in our fundraising efforts this fall,” said Emily Murphy, Executive Director of The Wood Theater. “Our organizations have respectively planned two unique events that together will help us reach a common goal of continuing to provide the Glens Falls community with a range of quality arts experiences.”
