The Hyde has a tradition of philanthropy dating back to 1952, when Charlotte Pruyn Hyde founded The Hyde Collection Trust, leaving her home and its impressive contents to her community and establishing an endowment to help secure its future. Since then many have chosen to include the Museum in their financial plans believing, as Mrs. Hyde did, that The Hyde Collection and the cultural opportunities it provides must be sustained. One of the Museum's most generous benefactors, Helen Froehlich, provided major support for the Education Wing expansion of the late 1980's and later created a substantial trust for the Museum that would stand as a legacy to her and her family in perpetuity. These gifts, during her lifetime and since, have enabled tremendous growth, transforming a house and its fine and decorative arts collection into a vibrant Museum complex. We look to the next generation to continue the philanthropic tradition Mrs. Froehlich so generously demonstrated.
