The Hyde offers children of all ages many exciting opportunities to experience the amazing world of art.
THE DISCOVERY PROGRAM and GUS!
The Hyde Collection is proud to introduce Gus – a child and family friendly mascot developed to help kids discover the amazing world of art at The Hyde. Did you know that Gus was once Mrs. Hyde's pet parrot that lived in Hyde House for over 40 years?
HERE'S HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED WITH THE DISCOVERY PROGRAM:
1. When you visit the Museum each month, ask for a Discovery Guide. Gus will help you "Discover" art and history in the Museum with this guide - a new theme each month!
2. Special Discovery Cards will be issued to children in grades K - 6 at the Museum Store. Bring your card in to be punched each month.
3. On your second Museum visit, you will receive your very own Discovery Kit -- filled with neat art materials and learning tools -- for FREE! Bring your kit with you every month and receive a new art-related item to add to your collection (one item each month with card punch).
4. Discovery Program visits can be made during regular Museum hours: Tues.-Sat. 10AM-5PM and Sun. 12Noon-5PM. The Museum is closed on Mondays and national holidays. This program is offered FREE of charge. Museum membership is not required.

FAMILY DISCOVERY DAY
The Last Sunday of Every Month!
A special Discovery Day will be held on the last Sunday of each month from 1 to 3PM at the Museum. Discovery Day is designed for the whole family in mind, and includes a self-guided tour with a hands-on art activity in the Louis P. Brown Art Studio. By encouraging monthly visits, this program offers a new theme or "Discovery" each time children and their families visit. There is always something new to see and learn at The Hyde!
Funding for the Discovery Program was provided through a grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. Additional support provided by:
