The Hyde Collection offers pARTies for children!

The Hyde Collection is the spot for unique and unforgettable
children’s celebrations. The Museum provides parties in one
of three themes: Time for Tea; Castles, Kings, & Queens; and the new Picasso Party! Parties include a theme-related tour of the Museum and a “make & take” hands-on activity, plus costume props.

TIME FOR TEA is a garden tea-themed party. Young guests are first given a tour of historic Hyde House to get a sense of what life and entertaining was like in 1912, when the house was built. Afterwards, party-goers discover elements of history in the Hyde family’s dining room, courtyard, and music room. Following the tour, the group retires to the Louis P. Brown Art Studio for dress-up, “tea”, and more. Guests will learn to make paper flowers to decorate the party table - and children go home with their own bouquet!

CASTLES, KINGS, & QUEENS is a Renaissance-themed party. Attendees receive a guided tour of historic Hyde House to learn about the influences of Renaissance Europe through the architecture, paintings, and sculptures presented in the house. Following the tour, guests retire to the art studio for dress-up and more. Each guest makes a jeweled crown to take home!

PICASSO PARTY is a birthday party inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso. This party’s tour focuses on the modern aspects of The Hyde’s permanent collection. In addition, children, decked in smocks and berets, paint freely on easels at this party. In nice weather, children paint outside in The Hyde’s butterfly garden. Party-goers also take home an abstract mask in true Picasso style! Let your child’s party be about the artist’s experience!

Reservations for party dates are an exclusive benefit of Hyde membership. (The host must be, or become, a member at the
Family level).

• Cost per child for each party is $10.00.
• Parties are recommended for children 5 years and up.
• Each party can accommodate from a minimum of 8 up to 15 children and lasts up to two hours. One week prior to the event, Parents/Hosts must inform The Hyde Collection of the number of children and adults who will attend.
• Parties can be held on Saturday between 10am-5pm, Sunday between 12noon-5pm, or during weekday afternoons as Museum scheduling permits.
• Parents/Hosts supply the invitations, cake, beverages, and goodie-bags (as desired). (Note: Candles may not be lit.)
• The Hyde Collection supplies the space, tour and tour guide, hands-on activity supplies, dress-up components, and dry goods (ie: paper plates, cups, napkins, tablecloths, etc.) A member of The Hyde’s Education Department will be on hand to lead and assist with the creative activities.
