Education at The Hyde Collection
The Hyde Collection offers K-12 school programs for teachers and their classes. These programs meet New York State learning standards and offer studio time with each visit.
Tours are available in five themes exploring everything from portraiture to the Renaissance. The Education department can also customize tours for classes with particular interests. Children can visit the Museum after school on Wednesdays during the academic year for
Artfull Afternoons, a studio program that focuses on a specific work of art in the permanent collection. Our
Studio Explorations vacation workshops are offered in February, April, and during the summer so students can continue polishing their artistic talents and enhance their portfolios.
The Hyde Collection provides opportunities for children, families, and adults. Children ages 3-5 are welcome to drop in with an adult chaperone every Tuesday to participate in a guided tour of the permanent collection and then create their own work of art in the Louis P. Brown Art Studio. On the last Sunday of every month, the Education Department offers a Family Discovery Day that allows parents and children to explore the Museum at their own pace while learning more about the collection through an interactive scavenger-hunt based self-guided tour.

While only a select few of the Museum’s exciting programs are listed above, The Hyde Collection offers a number of similar programs for teachers, parents, children, students, and adults. In addition, the Education Department is always developing better ways to serve the community.
Please check for new programs and events or call 518-792-1761 ext. 17 or ext. 27 for more information. While many of the programs are offered free of charge, some programs are assigned a nominal fee. Please check for details.
