Hyde to host play writing workshop October 4

On Sunday, October 4, The Hyde Collection will host a playwriting workshop conducted by Stephen Svoboda, executive director of the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.

During this Season of Degas event, attendees will tour through Degas exhibition for inspiration and then will spend one-on-one time with Svoboda developing their play writing skills. At the conclusion of the writing session, participants will act out the short plays they have created.

Attendees will meet in the Museum’s Louis P. Brown Art Studio at 1 pm and the session will run through 5 pm. The workshop is open to adults and high school students and no previous writing experience is required. Cost is $20 per person and those interested are requested to register by calling 518-792-1761 ext. 20.

Stephen Svoboda is a professional playwright, director, and educator. He's a native of Tupper Lake and returned to the Adirondacks after eight years of teaching and working with theater groups in Miami. Svoboda earned his undergraduate degree at SUNY Plattsburgh. He is the former head of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program in Directing and Acting at the University of Miami.
