Glens Falls, NY - In celebration of the opening A Glens Falls Legacy: The Pruyn Family, The Hyde Collection will host an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social to be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 3:00 to 5:00PM.

The event will also offer a host of family activities including a scavenger hunt, art projects, and a visit from Gus the Parrot.

“For the Hyde, this ice cream social has an historical significance,” said David F. Setford, the Museum’s executive director. “Our founder, Charlotte Hyde, hosted ice cream socials here in the 1930s for young women residents of Glens Falls and we wanted to relive those days as part of the city’s centennial.”

The Museum is also kicking off a two-month-long membership drive as part of centennial activities and staff will be on hand at the event to answer questions about membership opportunities and to enroll new and returning members on that day.

The ice cream social is free to Hyde Collection members. Non-member tickets are $5 per person or $15 per family at the door. Deadline for tickets is May 31. New members and any current members who refer friends and family who join during the months of May and June, 2008 will have their names entered into a drawing for two tickets to The Hyde’s annual wine and food tasting event in September (valued at $150).

For more information about the event, contact The Hyde at 518-792-1761 X 10.

NOTE:           The Museum, which is normally open to the public on Sundays from noon to 5PM, will close at 2:30PM on June 7 for this event.
