Calling All LP Owners - Can You Dig It?
The Hyde Collection is asking the community to assist with an upcoming exhibition. The Museum is looking for original, good-quality album covers to display in an exhibition titled, Can You Dig It? for three months. The exhibition will coincide with our main gallery exhibition The Late Drawings of Andy Warhol: 1973-1987 and will be located in the Rotunda Gallery. Can You Dig It? will be a celebration of the art of the album cover. Andy Warhol himself created album covers for Velvet Underground, The Rolling Stones, Diana Ross, and many others.
We are looking for album covers from the years 1973-1987 and hope to include all genres of music within that time period. Album covers need to be in good condition, without too much wear and tear. We will be accepting album covers at the museum from April 28 until May 29.
Our curatorial staff will choose the albums that will be in the exhibition. You will be notified if your album is chosen and, if selected, you and a guest will receive free admission to the Museum. Your name will also be listed as a lender on the Rotunda Gallery wall.
All album covers will be returned to the lender and will be available to pick up at the Museum after September 30.
Can You Dig It? will run through September and coincides with our main exhibition, The Late Drawings of Andy Warhol: 1973-1987 which runs from June 21 through September 27, 2015.
