Wyeth's granddaughter to speak at Hyde summer luncheon
Victoria Wyeth, artist Andrew Wyeth’s granddaughter, will be the guest speaker at the Museum’s annual Summer Luncheon on Monday, July 12, 2010.
Ms. Wyeth, who recently guided a group of travelers from the Hyde on a tour of the Brandywine Museum in Chadds Ford, PA, is considered to be one of the leading experts on her grandfather’s body of work. In her talk, she will share with attendees an insider’s view of what it was like to grow up in this family of artists.
The luncheon talk is part of a series of events surrounding The Hyde Collection’s major 2010 exhibition Andrew Wyeth: An American Legend that opens for Hyde members on June 12 and to the general public on June 13. The exhibition comprises more than forty-five Wyeth watercolor, drybrush, and tempera paintings, as well as pencil studies from The Farnsworth Art Museum in Maine, as well as from several other museums and private collections
The luncheon, sponsored by Key Bank, will be held at 11:30 am at The Inn at Erlowest, the former home of Charles R. Wood, one of The Hyde’s most important benefactors.
Luncheon choices include swordfish niçoise, crunchy Asian chicken, or mozzarella and tomato Caprese salads along with a peach and blueberry dessert.Attendees will also have an opportunity to receive a 20% discount on items purchased at the special Museum Store table and to participate in a cash-prize raffle.
Tickets for the event are $50. For more information or to purchase tickets by credit card via telephone, call 518-793-1761 ext. 23.
Proceeds will go to support the Museum’s Hoopes Gallery exhibitions and various garden projects.
