LOWER HUDSON CONFERENCE TO RECOGNIZE HYDE
Museum to receive Award for Excellence
Glens Falls, NY – The Lower Hudson Conference of Historical Agencies & Museums (LHC) has recently chosen The Hyde Collection to be recognized with a 2004 Award for Excellence (Historic Preservation) at their Annual Meeting to be held on October 12, 2003 in Hyde Park, NY. LHC’s Annual Awards for Excellence program seeks to recognize and commend exceptional projects and organizations that exemplify creativity and professional vision resulting in a contribution to the preservation and interpretation of the historic scene, material culture, and diversity of the Hudson Valley and greater Metropolitan region.
This award recognizes the recent accomplishments of The Hyde Collection to restore the interior and exterior of historic Hyde House (1912). The restoration was part of the Museum’s Preserving the Legacy comprehensive plan, which culminated in May with the reopening of Hyde House and the implementation of a historic Furnishing Plan. This plan was the result of four years of intensive research, the collection of oral histories, and years spent reviewing photographic and archival materials.
For more information on the restoration of historic Hyde House or Preserving the Legacy visit the Museum’s web site at www.hydecollection.org.
