The Hyde Collection is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $35,000 Fiscal Year 2003 Legislative Grant from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation to support the Museum’s Comprehensive Plan. The Hyde is extremely grateful to Senator Little and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation for their support.

The Hyde Collection will utilize these funds to upgrade lighting and security systems in historic Hyde House. To provide more focused and discreet lighting, a state-of-the-art fiber optic lighting system will be installed, replacing track lighting from the 1970s. Special UV Plexi glass window panels will be purchased and installed as well as picture lighting to highlight important paintings on display. These lighting enhancements will provide a more protective atmosphere for the artworks in Hyde House, and enable the Museum to display more works on paper from the permanent collection. The remaining funds will be used to upgrade the Museums security system. These efforts will greatly improve the protection of the permanent collection, enhance the historic character of Hyde House, and improve the visitors’ experience.
