This exhibition presented eight pieces of pottery from ancient Cyprus. These works formerly belonged to the famed Cesnola collection, which the Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired between 1874 and 1876. Nell Cunningham's acquisition of these works in 1926 suggests that Louis and Charlotte Hyde's own eagerness to collect works of art spread to other members of the family. In the case of Nell, however, the purchase of this pottery was tied to her scholarly as well as practical devotion to ceramics.
