One hundred works from nearly eighty area high school art students will be exhibited as part of The Hyde Collection’s Fifteenth Annual Regional Juried High School Art Exhibition from Sunday, April 30 through Sunday, May 28, 2006. The exhibition, sponsored by Tribune Media Services, is an exciting showcase of talent and creativity by art students in grades 9-12 from southern Essex, Warren, Washington, and northern Saratoga Counties. This unique show allows participating students to experience the preparation, submission, and jurying process crucial to their artistic development.

Approximately twenty school districts submitted over 900 works on jury day. The selected works, including drawings, paintings, jewelry, ceramics, metal work, photography, and electronic media will be featured in the Museum’s Charles R. Wood Gallery. The jurors were: Professor Regis Brodie, Art Department, Skidmore College, and Director of the Summer Six Program, Skidmore College; Trudi Smith, Saratoga artist and retired New York City teacher, and Associate Professor Tom Santelli, Art Department The College of Saint Rose.

An Open House and Awards Ceremony will be held at The Hyde Collection, 161 Warren Street, Glens Falls on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 1PM. All students will be recognized and a few will be honored with the following special awards: Best in Show – one work selected by Randall Suffolk, Hyde director; Curator’s Award – two works selected by the Museum’s curator, Erin Coe, and five Honorable Mentions chosen by the Jurors.
