Friday – Sunday, October 25 – 27, 2013

Join Chief Curator Erin B. Coe for a weekend in Manhattan focused on art, culture, and culinary pleasures, while enjoying the ease and camaraderie of traveling with The Hyde Collection!

Day One:

  • Chelsea Market Culinary Walking Tour: A lunchtime adventure at the ultimate indoor food paradise. Visit Chelsea Market, The High Line & the Meatpacking District, tasting specialties from several food shops along the way.
  • Check-in at the Excelsior Hotel, a beautiful luxury four star landmark with old world charm, conveniently located just steps from Central Park in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
  • Guided tour of the New-York Historical Society’s exhibition The Armory Show at 100, which revisits the famous 1913 original exhibition that introduced the American public to European avant-garde painting and sculpture.
  • Enjoy the evening on your own for dinner and exploring the neighborhood.

Day Two:image

  • Full American breakfast at the hotel.
  • Self-guided visit of The Frick Collection and the exhibition, Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Hals: Masterpieces of Dutch Painting from the Mauritshuis, representing the range of subject matter and technique prevalent in seventeenth-century painting in The Netherlands.
  • An afternoon at your leisure to enjoy the cultural, shopping, and culinary attractions of Manhattan!
  • Group dinner at Calle Ocho, located inside the Excelsior Hotel and offering exciting Latin fusion cuisine—Little Havana with a New York City flair! Enjoy a three-course dinner with wine, beer, or soft drinks.

Day Three:

  • Hyde Chief Curator Erin B. Coe will lead a tour designed especially for our group in the American Wing at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Group brunch at The Metropolitan’s Petrie Court Café, a European style restaurant set against the backdrop of Central Park.
  • Docent-led tour of The Cloisters, the branch of The Met devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe, assembled from architectural elements that date from the twelfth through the fifteenth century.

Depart Friday, October 25—Exit 19 at 6:30 am, Exit 15 at 7:00 am, Exit 8 at 7:30 am

Return Sunday, October 27—Exit 8 at 7:30 pm, Exit 15 at 8:00 pm, Exit 19 at 8:30 pm

PACKAGE COST:

$665 per person, double occupancy, for Hyde members

$690 per person, double occupancy, for all others

Includes group transportation; two nights’ lodging at the Excelsior Hotel, one breakfast, one brunch; one lunch; one dinner; admissions and guide service per itinerary; and all tips. Single supplement is $225. As a membership benefit, reservations are open to Hyde members only until July 30, 2013. A deposit of $100 per person is required to secure your reservation and must be received by August 26, 2013—reservations made after August 26th will be accepted based on availability. Final payment is due September 25, 2013. The Hyde reserves the right to alter the itinerary as necessary. Cancellation policy: Participants are required to cover the charges incurred by The Hyde Collection as a result of his/her cancellation.
