Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum & MFA Boston
October 18, 2012
Travel with The Hyde Collection’s Chief Curator Erin Coe to visit two remarkable museums, each with dazzling new wings. At the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum join a guided tour to learn about the newly opened addition designed by renowned architect, Renzo Piano. During free time, experience the stunning urban palace that Mrs. Gardner first opened to the public January 1, 1903, and that remains unchanged since Charlotte and Louis Hyde visited it when they lived in the Boston area in the first years of their marriage.
Enjoy lunch on your own at either the excellent cafe at the Gardner or one of three restaurants at the Museum of Fine Arts. At the MFA discover the new Art of the Americas Wing on a docent-led tour and, at your leisure, explore other treasures of the museum’s extraordinary collection of over 400,000 works of art. If you wish, reserve time for, perhaps, an espresso or to browse through the outstanding gift shop before our departure from the MFA.
