This exclusive event marks the first time that the music-inspired works by famed French Impressionist Edgar Degas will be assembled for exhibition. Degas & Music will feature a rich and varied group of some twenty-five works by Degas, centered on The Hyde Collection’s own superb holdings. Loans of major works from national and European institutions will be complemented by little-known images in private hands, and there will be a fully illustrated, scholarly catalogue. Curators for this exhibition - Jill DeVonyar and Richard Kendall - also curated the extraordinarily successful exhibition, Degas and the Dance, presented at The Detroit Institute of Arts and the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2002-2003. Degas & Music will appeal to visitors of all kinds: artists and art enthusiasts, music-makers and music-lovers, professional dancers and their counterparts, and those with an interest in history and culture.
